Digital Stamp Challenge

Hello my crafty friends. I am back today with a card I created for the Not 2 Shabby Shop Digital Design Team. Each month, one of my fellow team mates, posts a challenge which always inspires and sets my creative wheels in motion. This month the challenge is to use one of Jamie’s amazing digital stamps along with a traditional stamp. With the new Lawn Fawn products recently released, I knew just what I wanted to create, so let’s get cracking.

Lawn Fawn’s A Creature Was Stirring and N2SS Digital Coffee Cart

This is the card we are creating today. Isn’t it simply adorable? I used the Not 2 Shabby Shop’s digital Coffee Cart image. First, I sized it on my computer and tried to scale it to fit these cute mice. Here is a tip, if you are unsure if the size is going to be to scale with another image, print it out on inexpensive copy paper first. This is what I did. I made a couple of adjustments and then I printed the final image on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock with my Epson 1430 Inkjet Printer. I then set it aside for the ink to dry.

Next, I stamped out my mice and a Christmas tree cookie from Lawn Fawn’s “A Creature Was Stirring” stamp set. I used Versafine Black Onyx Ink because I planned to use my Distress Markers , which are now discontinued, but you can use the ink pads in the same manner, to watercolor the images. As with the Coffee Cart, I stamped onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I used various markers to color my images. For the mice I used Walnut Stain on the body and Spun Sugar for the ears. For the apron I used Tattered Rose. I added polka dots using my Sakura Gel Pen. Then I colored the Christmas tree cookie with Worn Lipstick. I used my Brother Scan N Cut to cut both the digital Coffee Cart and the stamped image out.

Once I gave the ink time to dry I started on the cart base. I watercolored (yes, as you can see I did watercolor my digital image) using Gathered Twigs, Picked Raspberry for the wheels, Ground Espresso for the coffee container, Gathered Twigs with a touch of Antique Linen for the frappuccino cup. For the awning I used Aged Mahogany and Worn Lipstick. I used Picked Raspberry for the balloon along with accents using my Sekura gel pen. For the banner I used Worn Lipstick and added Picked Raspberry and blended it with water from the top. I colored in the background of the cart using Tumbled Glass.

Whimsy Stamps Military Camo Background Stamp

Now, it’s time to work on our background. I recently purchased this amazing “Military Camo” background stamp from Whimsy stamps. It was out of stock for quite some time and I understand why. Don’t you just love all of that texture? I inked it with a combination of Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. Distress Ink Using my new Misti, which I absolutely love by the way, I stamped it onto a piece of Neenah Solar White #80 card stock cut to 4x 5.25. Next, I mounted it on to a piece of Salmon colored cardstock from my stash that was cut to 8.5 x 5.5 and scored it at 4.25 for a finished card of 4.25x 5.5.

I needed a sentiment for my card, so I used words from a couple Lawn Fawn sets to get the sweet sentiment I needed for this card. I used both the “Jump For Joy” and the new “Tiny Gingerbread” stamp sets. I inked the words using Versafine Black Onxy Ink on to a scrap piece of white cardstock and used my Tim Holtz paper trimmer to cut it down to size.

Finally, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border to cut out a hill to ground my cart using burlap I had in my stash. I popped the cart and balloon up using my double sided foam tape and glued all of the images down. Then I added a lot of bling to the wheels, banner, frappuccino and baked goodies using my Diamond Stickles. Here is a look at my final card.
